About Me

My Principles:

Jennifer Usher BA (hons),
Cert CII (MP),

Financial Adviser and Principle of
Bay Tree Financial Planning

I set myself high standards and take great care to ensure my advice is accurate, clear, organised, the best solution, charged fairly and presented in a warm and friendly manner.

I believe the best way for me to give financial advice is to really get to know you, and to achieve this I create a relaxed and informal atmosphere for our meetings. When you visit the office in the beautiful Cornbury Park Estate, you are taken out of your busy environment where you can focus on ‘you’ over a cup of tea and a biscuit, if I’ve left any!

I keep thinking how good your new logo is! Really professional but full of colour and fun —
just like you.

Gemma Nicholls
Solicitor, Henmans LLP, Oxford

All my clients are treated as individuals; you may go through the same six-step process, but all my advice is tailored specifically to you and your needs. No matter how complex or simple the advice is, I will ensure you understand any financial advice you proceed with. You will see from my case studies and LinkedIn recommendations, that many of my clients appreciate my ability to explain financial matters to them in a way that is easy to understand.

During the advice process if I am unsure of an answer to your question or details of your existing arrangements, I will tell you. I am confident enough to tell you and to go and approach the right people to get you the best result.

My Story

After finishing university, I spent 4 years in retail management. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with clients, but I felt I wasn’t being academically challenged. When the opportunity came in 2002 to join a multi-national bank as a financial adviser, I took it. I thrived on the mental challenge of all the examinations and technical knowledge as well as being able to build excellent relationships with clients.

After 6 years with the bank I chose to work for 3 large financial adviser firms in Oxfordshire. I also took further examinations. In 2010 I decided to become a self-employed Financial Adviser, and a year later I started Bay Tree Financial Planning. It still surprises me how few female financial advisers there are. Since 2002 I have been in the minority, at conferences there is often only around 10% of female financial advisers.

Many people ask me, “Why Bay Tree?” And, I explain that I was married in the Bay Tree hotel in Burford, which is a very special place to me now. When I’m not working I can be found at the Windrush leisure centre in Witney, either in a Spin class or in the sports hall doing Jazzercise. To replenish the burnt calories, I like to bake. I have two very happy cake eaters at home, Ben my husband and Bobby our Cocker Spaniel. Bobby will often make an appearance at the office, so you may get to meet him.

Witney & Oxfordshire

I’m a firm believer in doing business locally. Please visit my “Bay Tree Loves” page for details of local businesses. I have used all local businesses to help with the set-up and future services of Bay Tree Financial Planning.

I have not yet met another female financial adviser in the Witney area. There are a few female financial advisers across Oxfordshire, so I’m very happy to help make the numbers up!

My office is in rural Oxfordshire, just 10 minutes from Witney, set in the beautiful grounds of Cornbury Park Estate.
